How Our Business Began.
Back in the early 1970s the oil business was booming, and oil companies in Houston began establishing branches all over the world. The oil executives who were selected to set up those overseas branches lived in the "Houston Memorial Area.” They loved their homes and wanted to resume living in them upon their return from overseas. Unfortunately, they could not find a management firm to rent and manage their homes while assigned overseas.
This problem became a heated topic of discussion. The founders of this company, husband and wife, were at that time living in the Houston Memorial Area. They heard and participated in much of the talk, but for months no property manager was to be found. Then slowly "word" went around that a founder of our firm was a practicing real estate lawyer and that he and his wife were managing the few rental homes that they owned; that word gave birth to an idea. The idea caught on and our founders started getting phone calls. However our founders could not see themselves leasing and managing other people's homes, and said so. But the daily pressures continued, and they finally gave in, more to help their friends in need than anything else. So thereby, in 1976, Memorial Property Management became the first leasing and property management firm in the Houston Memorial Area.
